IMPRESSION ON SPED 504: PSYCHOLOGY OF EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN

Posted by Mae P. Tagarao / Category:

The word "psychology" is the combination of two terms - study (ology) and soul (psyche), or mind. The derivation of the word from Latin gives it this clear and obvious meaning: the study of the soul or mind. Exceptional children are those who deviate font the normal or average child in mental, physical and social characteristics such an extent that he acquire a modification of school practices or special educational services in order to develop to his maximum capacity, or supplementary instruction. Thus, my impression on the subject SPED 504, which is all about the psychology of exceptional children, is that, we will be talking about the principles, theories, philosophies, and the likes that would give us a clear picture on the causes of the different disabling conditions. This subject would be interesting for me. Also, there will be lots of requirements to be complied upon finishing the course. On the positive aspect, I'm pretty sure that I will enjoy this subject because I so like the teacher, Mrs. Marian B. Alaba. I already look forward to learning a lot from her.
